This page explains what festcull.com collects, why, who handles it and what you can ask me to do with it. In short: your email address if you join the waitlist, your answers if you fill in the survey, and the technical data every website receives. No cookies, no ads, and nothing is sold.

Who is responsible

festcull is made by Kalatech, my one-person company in the Netherlands (Kaloyan Krastev, Kalatech, Hertog Hendrik van Brabantplein 76, 5611 PJ Eindhoven, KvK 70762732). Kalatech is the controller of your personal data under the GDPR. Write to info@kalatech.net with any question about it.

What I collect and why

  • Your email address, when you join the waitlist. I use it to send the confirmation email and, once you confirm, news about festcull's beta. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)), which you give by pressing Confirm. An address that isn't confirmed is never added to the list.
  • Your survey answers, if you fill in the survey after confirming: what you shoot, your schedule, your camera, computer and editing software, how often you shoot, whether you'd buy festcull at the price shown, whether you have a shoot culled by hand, and whether I may call you. They're stored with your email address so I can pick the first testers and contact them. Every question is optional. Netlify also records the IP address and browser that sent them. The legal basis is your consent.
  • Technical data. Like any website, festcull.com receives your IP address and browser details when you visit, and the signup functions see the link from the confirmation email, which carries your email address in encrypted form. They're used to deliver the site and to stop the signup form being abused, for example by limiting how many emails one visitor can request. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure website (article 6(1)(f)).
  • Visit statistics. Plausible counts visits, where they came from and how many people sign up. It sets no cookies and saves nothing on your device. It uses your IP address only to make an anonymous identifier that changes every day, and doesn't store the IP address itself. The statistics contain no personal data. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (article 6(1)(f)).

Cookies

festcull.com sets no cookies and saves nothing on your device, so there's no cookie banner. The emails contain no tracking pixels or tracked links.

Who handles it for me

  • Resend (Resend, Inc., United States) sends the emails and keeps the waitlist.
  • Netlify (Netlify, Inc., United States) hosts the site, runs the signup functions and stores the survey answers.
  • Plausible (Plausible Analytics, Estonia) counts visits, on servers in the EU.

Each works only on my instructions, under a data processing agreement. I don't share your data with anyone else, and I never sell it or use it for advertising.

Transfers outside the EU

Resend and Netlify process data in the United States. Both take part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission found to give adequate protection, and their agreements fall back on the EU standard contractual clauses.

How long I keep it

  • Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it, or until I close the waitlist after festcull is released, whichever comes first. When you unsubscribe, Resend keeps the address marked as unsubscribed so you get no more email, which is my legitimate interest in honouring your choice; ask me and I'll delete it entirely.
  • A confirmation link stops working after seven days. Resend keeps its record of each email it sends, including the address, for 30 days.
  • Your survey answers are kept until the first testers are chosen, and never longer than 12 months after you send them. If you unsubscribe, I delete them too.
  • Netlify's server logs hold IP addresses and the addresses of the pages requested, including the encrypted confirmation link. Netlify keeps them for 90 days, and for a year in its backups. The signup functions' own log lines record only whether each step worked.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how it's used, or to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere. You can object to the use of technical data and visit statistics described above. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link in every waitlist email, or by writing to me; that doesn't affect anything done before. Write to info@kalatech.net and I'll answer within a month.

If you think I've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in your own EU country.

Do you have to share it?

No. The email address is needed only to join the waitlist, and the survey is optional. No decisions about you are made automatically: I pick the testers myself.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change affects what happens to your data, I'll tell the waitlist by email first.
